The International 2024

The International Dota 2 Championships 2024, commonly known as TI 2024 or TI 13, is set to be one of the most eagerly awaited events in the world of esports. Scheduled to take place in the heart of Copenhagen, Denmark, at the prestigious Royal Arena, this edition is particularly special due to the reintroduction of direct invites. This method of qualification, last seen in 2017, will be complemented by open qualifiers, giving both established teams and newcomers a chance to shine on the global stage.

The decision to bring back direct invites comes after the Dota Pro Circuit (DPC) was discontinued following the 2023 season. With the removal of the DPC, team invitations will now be determined based on their yearly performance in international competitions, ensuring that only the top-performing teams earn their spot. This new system is expected to add a fresh dynamic to the competition, allowing for a broader range of teams to participate, while still rewarding excellence and consistency.

The prize pool for The International 2024 starts at an impressive $1,600,000 USD. However, like in previous years, the total prize money is significantly bolstered by sales from the Dota 2 Compendium, with 25% of all sales directly contributing to the tournament's prize pool. To date, an additional $749,627 USD has been raised through Compendium sales, bringing the current prize total to $2,349,627 USD. As the event approaches, this figure is expected to grow, potentially making TI 2024 one of the most lucrative esports tournaments in history.

The tournament itself will unfold in two distinct stages. The first phase, "The Road to The International," will feature a group stage where teams will battle for a spot in the top 8. The second phase, known as The International, will see these 8 elite teams compete in a final playoff to determine the ultimate champion. This format not only raises the stakes for teams but also heightens the excitement for fans, as the world's best Dota 2 talent will be on display in a high-pressure environment.

With its mix of returning veterans and promising newcomers, as well as the renewed qualification system, TI 2024 is poised to deliver an unforgettable experience for both players and spectators alike. The competition's rich tradition, combined with the substantial prize pool and the passion of the Dota 2 community, will ensure that this year's tournament is nothing short of extraordinary.Participants
